Inverwood
Besides the horribly layed-out first hole, Inverwood boasts one of the best overall designs around. Hilly, woodsy, picturesque, and from the back tees, very challenging.

It owns one of the most difficult par 4s dack.com has ever seen: #8 is a 420 yard uphill climb to an elevated green protected in front by two big bunkers.
#12 at Inverwood: at least there's a great view from the tee.
Inverwood also has one of the longest (from the back tees) and toughest par 3s in the state. #12 is a 240 yard downhill poke with trouble on both left (bunkers/woods) and right (just woods). At least there's a great view from the tee.

Why is this only rated with two stars? Simply, the greens are awful; usually spiked, bumpy, and slow; 2-footers are always an adventure. Perhaps it's due to overplay (this course is always packed), but the superintendent can do better.
